Our 7 Pure Promise Initiatives

The three host nations have committed to action in seven subjects to make the Men’s EHF EURO 2026 more sustainable.

    Water

    1.1 Reusable water bottles and drinking stations for volonteers, staff, delegates, press and players.
    1.2 Tetrapak water containers instead of plastic containers where contained water is absolutely necessary or required.
    1.3 Environmentally certified cleaning and hygiene products in hotels and arenas.
    1.4 The Pure Promise campaign — voiced by our mascot, who shares the importance of clean drinking water and a healthy water environment.

    Food and Beverages

    2.1 Menus with less climate impact and plant-based alternatives in arenas.
    2.1.1 On site communication about considerations in choosing foods and menus
    2.2 Taking measures to minimize food waste in hotels and arenas
    2.3 No single-use plastics for packaging, cups and cutlery (fanzone and arenas).

    Transportation

    3.1 Driving all electrical vehicles and focusing on effective transportation for event and delegate transportation
    3.2 More sustainable team transportation by collective transportation or buses driving on more sustainable fuel
    3.3 Better use of and info about shuttle bus and collective transportation options for especially international fans
    3.4 Campaign focusing on ridesharing, carsharing and collective transportation options in order to motivate fans to choose sustainable ways of transport

    Reuse and Recycling

    4.1 Considering and sourcing more sustainable options when buying new materials and objects (e.g. venue dressing, wayfinding, clothing, equipment).
    4.1.1 Considering if year and specific logo is necessary on products in order to be able to reuse as much venue dressing and wayfinding as possible for 2028.
    4.2 Recycling of as many materials as possible and agreement with partners before the event (e.g. venue dressing, wayfinding, clothing, equipment).
    4.3 Motivate more nations to choose not to bring the optional third jersey.
    4.4 High quality clothes and reuse of clothes for OC members, delegates and volunteers.
    4.5 Use of recycled materials to build temporary structures or reuse of already existing materials and structures

    Waste

    5.1 Better waste sorting including obtaining information about all possible waste types and amounts to choose correct waste fractions and capacity in hotels and arenas.
    5.2 Deposit collection in arenas.
    5.3 Making agreements about hand outs etc. with commercial partners including taking care of products after activation activities
    5.4 Campaign focusing on getting the fans to clean up their own waste, the ‘waste culture’ and info about sorting.

    Fan Engagement

    6.1 Motivating and engaging fans through Pure Facts under the headlines of (1) Water, (2) Food and beverages, (3) Transportation, (4) Reuse and recycling and (5) Waste.
    6.2 Mini-guide to the responsible fan spread via e-mail, social media and the digital hub.
    6.3 Activities and side events with games, competitions, education and data collection under the theme of sustainability and Pure Facts.
    6.4 Campaign on social media about sustainability and Pure Facts.

    Data Collection and Emissions Report

    7.1 Data collection to inform an emission report.
    7.2 Data collection on tourist economic factors.
    7.3 Data collection on fans and visitors experience.

The Mascot XXX (TBA) is more than just a friendly face – it’s the official ambassador for Pure Promise, the sustainability initiative of the Men’s EHF EURO 2026. Curious, positive and inclusive, The Mascot XXX (TBA) shares Pure Facts that make sustainability fun and easy to understand.

You’ll meet The Mascot XXX (TBA) in arenas, host cities and partner events – before and during the championship.

If you answer all the questions correctly, you’ll have the chance to enter a draw for final tickets in Herning, Denmark, on February 1, 2026.
